Snack

The guys decided to go for a late night snack. 15 large scoops of ice cream, about 8 chocolate chip cookies and strawberries. I think the strawberries make it health food.

Desiree says "I love you and I miss you."

Nicole says "I am having a great time at camp. I can't wait to go home and take a shower."

Tuesday

As you can see today is ending late (or early depending on your perspective). This evening we took (myself and a couple of the other churches) a group of guys out for a late night hike up to what is known as "inspiration point." It was a great night under the stars.

Today the high school students also experienced the mud bowl. Brooke won the first place price for being decorated as the best sea monster (go yellow team). You will have to wait to see the pictures of the mud bowl...

The junior high students got to choose their own adventure today for their morning game and most of them spend the time in the lake.

This evening both groups, in their separate meetings, talked about the shortcomings of David and how God continued to use David even though he wasn't always the best behaved. It was a wrestling with the tension of David being known as a man after Gods heart, and at the same time being known for some pretty big mistakes.

The youth are doing great. I apologize that I haven't been able to check my phone messages yet, my cell phone is out of commission up here in the mountains but as you can see I can access the Internet. I'll do my best to check my messages tomorrow. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions, dan@gpcvista.org

Here are some pictures,

Our team discussion with the other churches, getting ready for field competitions tomorrow. (Junior high will be doing pool competition)

Dinner table, tonight we had BBQ chicken, rice, salad & even some broccoli.

For some reason the camera gave Daniel G an extra head.

The guys enjoying the lake.

Check back tomorrow and I will do my best to get some more of the junior high girls on the blog.

Dinner pictures

Here are a few pictures from dinner.

Tonight both groups talk about the story of David & Goliath.

I am looking forward to spending some more time sharing with you about the bible studies and some of the impact that it is having on our students.

Here are some pictures from dinner and of the lake that we get to wake up to in the morning.

Jr High #1

We are well into our second day at camp and so far it is fantastic.
Last night we were introduced to the life of David and how God works outside of our expectations and plans to accomplish His will in our life.

This morning we had our lake competition (Go Pink Team). So far we are in fourth place of four, but we are enjoying every moment of it.

All of your kids love not being with their parents and are perfectly safe.

We made it

Well, we are safely here and I think it is safe to say that the kids are all having a good time.

This is a picture of the high school evening gathering.

Please continue to pray for the week & check back later tonight for another update that will be a bit more detailed.

Summer Camp 2011

I am excited to be getting ready to go back to camp.  As you may or may not know Shannon and I spent a summer at Forest Home working on staff in the position called "Summer Staff Dean."  We were responsible for the spiritual health of the summer staff and making sure that everything that could be done was being done to make sure the staff was properly equipped to serve the campers that came to Forest Home over the summer.  I am looking forward to bringing our students to be a part of the same rich experience that Shannon & I had just two short summers ago.

If you haven't yet, then I would encourage you to spend some time looking at the Forest Home website, www.ForestHome.org getting familiar with the camp.  I would start by finding the camp of which your youth is attending (High School- Lakeview, & Jr High- Creekside) and then if you wanted to read further look up the core values of the camp.  Those two things should give you an idea of what is planned for your kids for the week.

Also, if you would like to send any of the students care packages you can do a "in camp delivery" from the online store at this web address, https://www.foresthome.org/store/care-packages-c-18.html

Please be checking back at this blog page for updates throughout the week about what is happening with your youth while they are at camp.
